Howdy,
My writing life is as tumultuous as US politics. At least, that's how it seems right now… okay, maybe that's hyperbole.
First, the somewhat depressing news. I just got a rejection from a spec. fic. small press for my fantasy novel. I really had high hopes, and now those hopes are roadkill. The silver lining is the manuscript made it all the way to the final round before being rejected. This gives me an iota of faith that my writing, and hence the manuscript, is not entirely crap. I even feel a bit of confidence. The novel is under consideration at a couple other outlets. Maybe one of those outlets will like my story even better and decide to make me an offer. Still, it's depressing. Not that I'm letting that slow me down, no way.
I'm still taking a brief hiatus from my YA WIP. I think I have at least one more round of editing to go through before starting to hawk it. I expect I'll start editing it again no later than March, maybe even on the 29th of February. Leap years are marvelous.
Right now, I am finishing off the rough draft of a new fantasy short story, and I'm still waiting for a reply on a sci-fi short story submission. As always, fingers and toes crossed.
